Classification Of Zirconia Materials

Zirconia materials are primarily composed of zirconia crystals and doped with other elements. Based on their crystal structure, common zirconia materials can be divided into three categories:

 

1. Monoclinic Zirconia (m-ZrO2): This type of zirconia has a loose crystal structure, a high specific surface area, and good hydrolysis and phase transformation capabilities at room temperature. Due to its poor high-temperature resistance, it is generally used to prepare alumina, perovskite, and other ceramic materials.

 

2. Tetragonal Zirconia (t-ZrO2): This type of zirconia has a high phase transformation temperature, resulting in high high-temperature resistance and chemical stability. It is commonly used in high-temperature structural materials, cutting tool materials, and materials with special properties such as conductivity and magnetism.

 

3. Cubic Zirconia (c-ZrO2): This type of zirconia does not exhibit a strong solid solution effect, possesses good chemical inertness and high mechanical properties, and is widely used in diamond synthesis, high-efficiency grinding, and other fields.
